Illumina
2021
Illumina helped pioneer next-generation sequencing, giving researchers and clinicians new ways to understand DNA and improve human health. As genomics became more competitive and closely scrutinized, the brand needed to communicate not only what the company does, but why it matters.
The idea was rooted in Illumina’s name and technology, which uses fluorescent light to read genetic information. Light became the foundation of the identity, representing discovery, clarity, and the ability to turn complex data into meaningful insight.
This idea connected the strategy, purpose, and visual system. It positioned Illumina as more than a technology company, showing how genomics can support progress and create a positive impact on people’s lives.
I helped develop and refine the core design system, including 3D illustration, typography, UI elements, and color.
